lost power Nissan Patrol 1998 2.8 Diesel made June 1998

Hi would like to know how to solve problem of having loss of power, sometimes I can put foot to the floor and nothing putts along at 80ks ... other times she a bit slow to take off but can get it up to 120 plus and runs smooth with no smoke. If we are going up a hill no power at all, same as when you first take off. Some one told us that it could be fuel filter between large fuel filter and the injectors but we can not find the filter .... any ideas ????? it is driving us nuts. Many thanks

have you checked to make sure your turbo is spooling up, sounds like you are either not getting enough fuel or not enough air, might want to get MAF sensor cleaned (using the proper spray). Also make sure air filter is not saturated with dust. Hope this helps, thought someone would have replied earlier to you.
