View Full Version : Stuck Tailshaft!

So after raising the truck, I noticed the tailshaft gets real close to the crosmember on full drop. Simple enough, just remove the tailshaft and flip it! Well, good luck, the yoke seems to have bonded to the diff flange, never been removed since fitted in '96 at the factory. Tried the old "when in doubt, give it a clout" philosophy, even "the greater the doubt, the greater the clout", nothing. Short of burying a cold chisel between them, I'm at a loss. Anyone have any suggestions? Was even tempted to leave the bolts loose and go for a drive!

mine was the same, same year model as well. I ended up bolting it bak up and going to the mechanics, it took both of us on pry bars to get it off and it wasnt easy.
if it all fails start it up put it in gear with brakes on and drop the clutch.

If you have the room to move.
pouring hot water over something stuck can loosen things up.
even hot 1 half and cold the other half
