Hi guys , I need some pointers please. My old Trol's gearbox has recently started rattling loudly at tick over . It's still there when the clutch is pressed .It seems to go once the revs are up a bit and I can't hear it while driving, but then the tyres are frickin noisey anyway :animierte-smilies-f
The trol has done about 170500 miles , that's about 274000 kangaroometers

Hey mate, just confirming its the GQ your talking about not the G60?
Was going to say It's a common noise Patrol's have when taken off and idle but very strange its still there when clutch in. Are you 100% sure the rattle is in the gearbox and not the engine?

How old is the clutch? A worn pressure plate can make a similar noise and will be more noticeable when cold. The input bearings can get a little noisy but as AB said its nearly standard on a GQ lol

Yep defo GQ. Clutch age unknown ;/ but I cant get any slip or signs of it either. I'm pretty confident it's not the engine and that has good oil pressure at tick over too about 45psi I'll go and listen more carefully in a min and report back. Cheers ;)

My clutch made a noise but still worked accordingly it only played up when towing at 2+t load.
