alright you can shoot me if you want, but I've still got this crazy idea.

I found a super cheap sd33t motor, and figured after a ground up rebuild (by myself only) it would be a nice diesel motor.

1st point- I cannot afford a half decent td42, and can't find one anyway.

2nd point- Is there any known bell housing to adapt the sd33 to a 5spd gq box?

many many thanks

what have you got in your gq now?

Just source a 5 speed suited to the sd33t. Have you got a budget?

got the tb42 dual fuel, been doing a few things to it and it's running alright, just want a diesel and a project engine!

what 5sp boxes would suit the sd33 and match up with the transfer tho?

also, budget isn't really a worry, going to be a year or two project, gunna do a ground up rebuild and modify a few things..

If budget isnt a worry be patient and wait for a TD42, will be a far easier conversion. If not you will have to somehow adapt the sd to the gq 5 speed or use the running gear from the earlier model and just run custom shafts to the diffs.

Theres no way id put an SD33T in a GQ
The SD33Ts are a great motor, but and im an MQ/MK lad here, the TD42 would be a step forward, and a TB42 will smash an SD33T clean out of the ball park
A TB42 will even give a warmed over TD42 Turbo a run for the money, only down side is fuel usage
SD33 T rebuild kit ,what a grand or so, head crack tested, and ok ,rebuilt, IP rebuilt, new injectors, decent turbo, done good, youll throw 4 grand at it

I used to have a TB42 in mine, then a few months ago I did a TD42 conversion. Fairly easy if you have the know-how. Same gearbox and engine mounts. Different bell housing, clutch, and radiator.

It is time-consuming and did cost more than expected. Just do a budget, then double it!

My advice, just buy a vehicle that has the motor you want already in it.

ahh screw it all. I'll just put a turbo on the petrol and be done with it

I looked into that also. Do you have carb or efi?

If you have the carb, then go straight-gas, and try fit 2x gas tanks. The range is crap tho.

The diesel is ideal for range. I can get 1200km.

no I have carby. 350 holley on there. think a turbo with mild boost for now will be okay!

Yeah, you should be fine to put a turbo on those. From memory the stock fuel pump may not have enough pressure tho. I'm not 100% on that.
