hey guys,

just replaced the head gasket on the trol, just want to check if I'm on the right track...

1- torqued head bolts to 69nm
2- there's HEAPS more noise from the tappets now...

is this normal?

also, I was going to wait about 300km and retorque the head bolts, then adjust tappets. does this sound right?

cheers! Kade

Did you play with rocker assembly at all, or leave assembly be and just do the head gasket?.
mixen parts around not good practice, can't help much with that.
other than to suggest machining adjusting screw, help to deaden noise.
but that can also be dependant on mileage of valve train, bit to take into account.

I asked the question a while back about "noisey rockers" and,
"response" have adj screw machined and then adjust em, was suggested to me.
Either way,
R&R head will upset clearances, sounds like rockers in need of a tweak.
If (Being fussy) adjust clearances asap so not to induce more unwanted wear and tear.
think that mostly covers that.

Most head gaskets are mono torque, "mono", do once and that's it.
Head or VRS kit would of been labled which type of gasket it was.
some even come with the fitting instructions.
If instructions not given, what brand, someone should know what you should be doing.

cheers

cheers man, yeah I had to pull the rocker assembly off to access the middle row of head bolts. torqued it all back up to spec, I'll adjust them soon.

yeah was jut a head gasket, not the valve regrind set. should all be okay!

cheers guys!
