would be ideal if you never went off road ,id be worried about nocking it of on rocks or during a river crossing
unless you have a sump guard

Good idea but really how hard is it to undo a nut? X2 on what roofy said as well, that wouldn't end well!

Does the tap have some sort of safe guard on it so it cant accidently been opend? Would only take some strays shrubs or object to hit it and open it or bust it off. With what I work on we have these drains that wouldnt stick out and furhter than a drain bung and you the wind the drain hose onto it which opens the valve as it threads on allowing the oil to drain.

I use it and would never go back to sump plugs again. I could hardly deal with those once year but Patrol ain't the once year oil change item so I got tired of chasing washers and cleaning plugs.
Tap can be locked by a circlip, cable tie, small hose clamps whatever. If you are going to snap it off on a rock I'd suggest that perhaps the front diff/axle housing needs to pass it first! Each to their own .....

Front diff is not inline with the sump plug?
