Hi All,
Got a 2012 GU8 CRD and the intercooler fins are getting more and more bent. I think its due to leaves, etc getting in there. I clean it out pretty regularly however wondered if anyone else is suffering the same issue?
Also - wondered if you are whether you could put up a photo of what your intercooler looks like so I can compare!
Any thoughts on ways to minimise this?

Fins are delicate.
you can try straightening by hand with something like tweasers.
slow and painful I'm afraid.
Tip-
If you take intercooler off.
Porting in/out may get a increase in torque 5%.
The ends are usually a thick wall approx 5mm which creates unwanted turbulence.
plug each end, inwards 30 mm with car wash sponge "cut a round bung" and it coated in spray grease (is easy to use) to catch all swarf.
sponge plug needs to be good firm fit.
increase it's size larger than hole size.
port, tapper in/out approx 20mm deep
hand clean swarf away and port other end.
working from underneath pull out bung 1 and clean around and then turn over and 2nd bung and clean again.
good clean out with detergent and through rinse and dry.
I noticed this paid off, had good results on my GTR's stock intercooler.
for that matter possibly any restrictive joint could be looked at.

By the time you stop stressing about bent intercooler fins or porting the OEM unit out you will find that it leaks like sieve.
Most if not all Nissan (Patrol) ZD30 intercoolers crack where the tubes joint the end tanks usually in corners due to being flimsy, too thin and flexing with constant heat expansion and mechanical vibrations.
Here is mine, the real thing (Cross Country 4x4 intercooler)
