Lately after refilling up the LPG tank the engine starts to miss splutter.
It seems like Mavs tank has been stirred up and a bit of crap coming through.
I can see the solenoid has a filter bowl.
Not sure which ways off ?.
dont want to break something.
Do I need anything special to R&R filter bowl ?.
Or Should I simply run dry and have tank cleaned/serviced.
Not sure about that, as the lpg suppliers seem to only deliver dirty gas in the first place and time and monies might just be wasted.
I'd really like to clean filter bowl as then I'd have an better idea of what's going on.
What to do?.:D

Ok so got sick of it.
Turned gas off at tank.
Started car to expel residual in system.
Normal threaded bolt, has a o-ring under it's head.
Filter is normal pleated paper but in a special moulded case and rubber seal in & outside itself.
Has a small magnet also under filter, was surprised to see it had particals stuck to it.
Extra protection of magnet is an excellent idea, as they would make short work of diaphragm.
filter looked fairly clean, air dusted off.
bottom of bowl had grit in it, quick blow and wipe, reassemble.
turned gas back on and ign to activate solenoid.
checked with detergent water mix, no leaks.
Expecting to see black goo in filter housing, surprise dry and clean that way, just gritty and some metal filings on magnet.
Will see how Mav goes later.
going by what I saw, not expecting any improvement.

Buy a kit and put through your convertor using some carbie cleaner.
Cheap as plus you should have one or two in line filters depending on system.

Drove Mav last night.
starts better seems to have a little more pull down low.
could be the new AGM battery having an affect also.
update.
once warmed up problem returns.

Bugger, still playin up
Think LPG spluttering after fuelling was a coincidence.
going to look at ign system, idea its a weak spark.
at low revs more so hotter engine and only after pulled up sitting at traffic lights etc.
feels like dissy cap or rotor is suss again.

Cap + rotor look ok.
replaced ballast + coil
replaced pertronic with points still suss.
##@%%
might be a spark plug breaking down with heat.

problem solved.
checked plugs and leads.
68 000 Ks gap still sweet as, gotta love Iridium plugs.
and thats 99.99% lpg use
compression test, 171 psi std, all 160 psi+
used the Nulon manifold cleaning foam to flush out carby.
guess carby playing up hot.
strange, something didn't like a little heat.
Arrrrh well, all good, very slight flat spot
accl pump boot split might put kit through carb.
had mav 4 yrs, kit sounds fair enough.

Yeah that's 1 reason I opted for iridium plugs, and 68 thou and still spot on speaks for itself.
couldn't find anything wrong other than ballast in elec system.
As I didn't have a test procedure for pertronic (LS1762) I removed em in case.
Think I will put the pertronic back in to see if that was the problem.
I hate playing with points.
If stuffed, Santa will be getting me Pertronic II for chrissy, lol.
I did test new ballast is 2.5 volts about right?.
I did get a carby rebuild kit, layed all the gaskets out on photo copier ran off copies for dyi gaskets templets if ever needed.

Thanks Brother,
That info is certainly a great help .
Useful, helps understand what's what inside.
unfortunately doesn't cover repair, but useful none the less.
thanks again.
If anyone knows, also after instructions for replacing--repair, setting up etc internal parts.
Once info in, think I'll start a thread to cover this lpg problem , omit previous un-related chat.

Converter kitted out, runs better not fixed.
Ignition faults dissy cap and rotor, runs better not fixed.
Leads replaced better again not fixed.
Plugs same again.
reset valves while hot, same bit better.
vac test, turns out could be a leaking valve.
with all the above, no wonder it felt as bad as it did.
The Fuelling up and begins to splutter symptom, just the starting point of an underlying problem I think

Hey Robo,
I'm keen to know how you get on. I've got a Landi Renzo SE 81 on my GU and have been having an issue where it will not stay running below 1000 RPM. Take it above that and it runs as normal but if you let it go below 1000 while corenering, coming to intersections etc and it'll just stop. My mechanic suggested rebuilding the converter and I ordered the repair kit. I opened the converter on the weekend and it was pretty much full of dried, hardened oil and sludge and the large diaphragm had burst through. The kit I bought was incomplete so I've had to order another from a company that sells a complete rebuild kit. Hopefully get it tomorrow and I can get the thing back in the car but the lack of instructions is concerning - most of my O rings disintegrated during disassembly so I can't really match up the replacements...

BP LPG will also give systems grief. Too much oil in the gas. Check filters after running BP LPG!

Yeah noticed that to,
Thats why I was expecting (as noted earlier) , to see crap in the filter when I checked.
I dont understand why mine looked clean with that in mind.
The black goo noted before
I ran that question by a lpg mech and he told me It's crap the oil company's are to lazy to remove.
Guess they expect us to do that for them, even if it stuffs our engines or componits.
