Hi,

I have been looking around for a possible cause for an issue i have with my air con in my GQ.
When i engage the A/C and am around 1800 to 2000 RPM i get a high pitch ring/whistle coming from around the lower passenger dash/foot well. The noise comes and goes as the A/C clutch engages and disengages.

The noise stops around 2400 - 2600 RPM. I do not get the noise when i drive without the A/C.

I am wondering if it could be a bearing in the AC compressor or a problem in the heat exchanger in the dash.

Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue or has any troubleshooting tips?

hi mate. It is most likely the idler pulley and is an easy over the counter bolt in fix.

It will depend i think on the engine in your GQ but here is a link to the one for a TD42

TD42 Idler Pulley (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/120867693957?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_757wt_954)

The noise could also be caused by a faulty TX valve in the A/C system.

You will need to take it to an A/C technician to test and repair.

Thanks, i will look into the options.
Hopefully it will fix the issue, driving with that noise for a long period drives me nuts.

Take the bearing out and take it to a bearing place meet you and they will match it, shouldnt be more than $20
