Hey guys,
I'm looking at buying my first Trol and a mate is selling a GU manual.
Took it for a test drive today and had an issue with 4th gear crunching a bit, but every other gear shifted like new. It's recently had a master and slave cylinder replaced.
Any help would be great!
Cheers, Trent.

Sounds like 4th may be gone, get him to fix it prior to buying it or get a quote to get it repaired and deduct that off the price.

Any ideas on what a synchro would be worth to replace??

My GU has done it from the day I bought it. If you slow your gear changes down will it go in smoothly? I know if I try and rush it will always crunch a little but if I take my time no worries. It has been like this for 40k and hasnt got any worse. I havent seen any metal out of my g/box but am monitoring it. There may be a slight problem there but it might still do 100k like that.

Mine will crunch in 4th if i change to quick try and double clutch and see if that makes a difference

Thanks for the advice, its a mates 4wd that I am buying so I will try these things. I will also try dumping the trans oil and replacing. Any idea how much I need to do a flush? Also I have been reading Castrol VMX 75-85 is the oil I need, can anyone else confirm this?
Cheers.

Nissan normally use VMX-80 so the 75-85 should be fine. They only take maybe 5L
