Yep strip it. gear box and motor and make sure it is all good mate. I just recently got an X9 Superwinch off a 200 series that had not done a pull but had been on the car for 5 years and OMG!!!! It was Brand New outside and FARKKKKKED inside!

Strip it.

Check also that you might have to rotate the motor on the drum to get it to line up right? maybe the free spool end?

Of course it was FARKKKKKED Darren, It was mounted to a Toyota, it crapped itself in hope the owner would take it of and buy a new one

Fitted a 12,000lb Tigerz11 into my GUIII genuine steel bar about 2-3 years ago. They need to be mounted upside down so the gearbox is on the driver's side. The gearbox will need to be removed and rotated (if not done already) so that you can access the lever from the front of the bar to engage/dis-engage. Not sure if you'll need longer bolts too, mine did, I think only about 5-10mm longer. Only other thing I did was flip the power cable around so that the power isolator is under the bonnet and not in some ridiculous place behind the bar where you can't reach it and others can tamper with it.

Hope that helps a bit.

Cheers,
Darren

tried fitting this winch today and its too bloody big,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,, misses out by about 40mm in width?
dont really want to have to fabricate a cradle, may as well just sell the bloody thing and start again?
frustrating thing is everyone said it would fit no dramas?
ah well, thats life I suppose,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

has anybody else had problems fitting these winch's?

I only have 200mm from the bolt holes to the chassis rails each side.
Now on the gearbox side of the winch this isn't a problem, however on the motor side of the winch it misses out by 40mm?

What size Tigerz is it? Yes there is 1 model that is much bigger and you will have trouble with and i think that you may have it. The only model that is longer is the 2 speed 'Comp' winch, bit of a con as the hi-speed only works on "No Load" so good for spooling in and out but no good for recoveries.

All the single speed Tigerz are a similar length and made to fit a Nissan bar without trouble.

Sell it and buy an Aldi winch or Super Cheap auto winch mate ;) you will be much happier ;)

Have you got a pic of the winch mate?

If its only 40mm could you notch out and cap a bigger hole in the rail??

Either was you rotate the unit it needs 40mm off set. Not happy about an offset that big for line pull without major fabrication work.
No dramas, Ill fit to my car trailer and source another one for the Patrol.

Yeah, got it done with a team member discount.

I will post some pics and feedback after use, I'm just having a problem finding a thick enough winch mounting plate to suit.

It suggested 10mm thick, although its only 12000lbs winch, and all mounting plates bolt onto the chassis so I dont think I need it that thick. I'm thinking somewhere around the 5mm mark, I rang Tigerz11 and they only have a winch mounting plate for there 12000lbs winch as a 4mm thickness.

I'm looking at one on Sunday, so should have the XTM winch tested through next week.
