I see quite a bit on the Facebook GQ page about trucks getting stolen. Someone lost two last week one was a non runner. Both were found stripped and one was burnt out. There is some discussion that folks are posting too much revealing info about themselves and their vehicles as there might well be FB lurkers as there could be here scoping out what us around. My point being be considerate to the vehicle Owners who may have no interest in having information about themselves splattered all over the Internet when posting especially when you say this patrol is always here etc,

I agree. I think that it should be a minimum for whoever posts a pic of someone elses patrol on this thread should blank out their plates.

P4trol
24th August 2014, 11:46 PM
The info is only valid if someone says 'yep, that's me'

I can sit on the highway and take pics of any car I want, numberplate included. The info is meaningless if no one puts their hand up and identifies themselves.

Taking photos in front of a house could be a bit of an issue if it is that person's home.

I see the rego plate being an issue with insurance companies and rego authorities. For example if I have an egr block, big lift etc and my pic with numberplate here. They can then target me and send a letter to instruct me to go across the pits.

What can anyone else do with that info? Well in the NT (and probably other states that have done away with a rego label) anyone can download the smart phone app and check when the rego is due.

as best you can, last thing you want , is to be the reason someone lost their ride

Turned off the freeway right onto mickleham and put the foot into it and just took off, the jeep I was passenger in have him a to from the next set of lights and struggled to keep up. nah you can still have a 6' tray on a dual cab GU.
I dont want the inside of my patrol covered in dog stink and dog hair.
I have a mate with an extended dual cab that tours the world, but thats an awesome unit
gear doesnt have to get wet if you have say space cases ,etc, remove the back seats , more storage if needed
Do you think resale would be better iyo

nissannewby
17th May 2015, 06:39 PM
6' tray would be best with a chassis extention and gvm upgrade. Resale doesnt change not that i have noticed anyway. You keep a spare tyre inside your car so having a dog in there cant be to much of a worry surely.

The biggest problem with the patrol and anything like this is the gvm. The car once you even put bar work on it is quickly approaching the factory gvm let alone if you have a teay on a dual cab full of soil or firewood.

Not negative at all Mick. Seriously that would do absolutely nothing even if you tipped it on its side. Its one 50 odd mm bar. I could see it just pushing into the guard. It would work as a brush guard though. Like the ones off the bull bar.

Looking at it again. I can see why maybe they have the bar there. It looks like the roof rack is used a lot and by the scuff marks across pole on the rear guard. Its used as a step maybe to help with roof access? Idea's man there! Plus it looks like the rack is made from the same material.

Nope not a cartoon either the photo has just been enhanced somewhat, looks like it could be an Icelandic jobbie, or Russian

Got her back! Mostly all in one piece except they stole all of our camping gear from inside :)

I had taken out the indicator stalk for cleaning the night before so it looks like they have shredded those wires to make the headlights work. Anyone have experience in the part I would need to replace that connects to the indicator stalk?

Great to hear you have your Patrol back, best bet would be buy a new stalk or source one from a wreckers.
At least they never pushed it over a cliff. eh

Thanks, yeah good news on that. I guess 4 patrols were stolen that night and 2 were used in ram raids. My baby is still looking good and now has a little street cred ta boot!

Indicator stalk itself still works fine but the female connector piece from the wiring has been removed. What would the correct name of this piece be to help me in my search?

Indicator stalk would cover it I would think, again you are one lucky dude.
Upgrade your security, you may not be so lucky next time ,and they already
know where you live.
