ZD30 woes

i have a 10/07 3.0L patrol ute with more starting problems. 112K on the clock. I had the common rail replaced in Jan this year($2000) after starting problems. now i have the same starting problems back again( will only start after about 30 secs of winding) with the added bonus of diesel knock with any revs on the motor. can anybody shed light on this issue? Why would the common rail fail in the first place?
