My 3 year old son was transferred from warragul hospitial to the monash hospitial in clayton last tuesday.
He has a virus called paraflu 3 and also pneumonia but the good thing is he's slowly getting better.
The part i want to rant about is the fact that i have no other choice but to drive here, which dont bother me,what does is the fact it cost's me $20 a day to park my car down here, and it's the only parking unless you leave your car on the street.
Now people visting, bringing people in for day surgery or whatever ok fair enough, but for people like myself who live along way from here and have no choice to park here for an extanded period should get a card that gives you free parking sofar it has cost me $60 and its the only parking available all other is staff which you need a swipe card to access.
And if i was to bring my patrol down i would'nt even fit in there cause of its height.
The other thing was,it was a mad rush to get down here,so the wife and i only had the clothes we had on,i went to buy a pen just a simple blue bic pen and cost me bloody $3 bucks.
Sorry guys for this it's my 5 night with next to no sleep.
cheers

Mate, hope all goes well with your son.

Public Hospitals should have free parking, isn't it our money that builds them in the first place, same as there shouldn't be parking meters around shopping centres, councils fault there aren't enough parking spaces but will give u a parking fine for not obeying there rules.

Hey Chester,

Mate I'm glad to hear that the young bloke is on the mend, I can understand the reason for your frustration, It is bloody rude when you are placed in these situations and not only have the cost to travel to these places in the first place but then have the additional cost of parking.

As if the govvers doesn't get enough money out of us in the first place, Unfortunately our health care system is in such decline it is not funny.

Anyway mate try to get some sleep and hopefully you'll get back home soon,

Good luck with it all

Mark

Good to hear the little fella is getting better,

Big bucks in car parks now, a Big Wig from Toyota invited me to tea at the Hilton up at Tullamarine Airport
I jumped at the offer, wow free feed, cost me $51 to get out of the carpark for 3 hrs parking, free feed ,yeah right
Think most are now privately owned

Glad to hear your young fella is getting better. Yeah the parking fees are criminal, especially when you're going through something like that.

I hear your pain and could also rant about my own experiences but this is your rant!!!

Glad your little one is ok mate, thats what makes the other things harder to deal with when you have to deal with these stressful situations and then get these unnecessary stresses compounded on top!!!!

You'll be home soon looking back.

Hope the young fella gets well soon mate. As for the parking, I am with you. I had to go in to the City a few weeks back. was at this particular site for less than an hour and cost me $36

Hey Chester, Glad to hear the young fella is on the mend, and hope the trip home is sooner rather than later mate.
As for the parking, totally agree with all the above comments and sometimes think we would be better off parking on the streets and coping a fine. Would still be cheaper i think.
Love your idea on a card for extended periods, even if you had to pay for the first day or 2 which inturn then covers you for a week ??

Well wishes for the young fella mate, and if it drags on too long and you want a free days parking on me, PM me with details.
Only happy to help mate.

Cheers Pete

Hey mate - sorry to hear that. Depending on the parking operator they sometimes offer discounts (weekly pass) if you get a letter from the hospital. Had the twins in hospital for 3 weeks just recently after they were born and rather than paying $36 per day it came down to $14 per day for a 7 day pass. The hospital had a standard letter to use - the parking operator was Wilson.

Hope your lad is doing better mate . Parking around hospitals is pathetic . Agree that they should provide free parking for immediate family of minors who are admitted to hospital. Another example that common sense is not so common anymore. Its just greed in a time of need and its a bloody disgrace .
