Gidday all. As soon as the weather gets better, I am going to repack the front bearings on the Old Trol and I was wondering if it is possible to remove the grease seal without distorting it, so I can use it to get the correct replacement?

Any decent parts supplier should be able to get you the correct seal without needing to see the old one. I've never removed an inner axle seal without destroying it.

Nope is the short answer - getting that seal out is a bit physical mate and highly doubt it could be removed without being damaged - that said, even in damage form, they'll know which ones to give you (44mm diameter in the GQ not sure on the GU).

I had an idea it would be impossible, but I could only hope. Thought I could also chuck it in a box as a spare. Is there a special method or tool used to reseat the new seal? I was quoted locally, $52 each for the bearing seal and also the inner axle seal. Must be made of gold!!

Help!! Which way does the bearing seal go in. the lip side to the lip on the axle or to the bearing. The old one was leaking and it had the lip into the bearing. All of the pictures Ive seen are unclear.

All done now. One mate said single lip out, but I used a magnifying glass to see the photo clearly. It makes sense to have two sealing lips on the vertical side.
