The bastard wouldn't let go of it and decided to fillet it himself. Pretty much destroyed a bloody good fish.

Anyway 26 squid off the Busselton jetty Wednesday night. We were going for mulloway but our live bait kept getting chewed on by all the squid there so at least we got a good feed

They are called steelhead carp or something like that.

Speaking of no tackle on "Hook,Line and Sinker" the guy cut a bit of hair from a dog and caught a fish with that
and we all know you only need a shiny hook up north, so Mal Douglas walked along the beach found some blue rope frayed and a small bit
of silver paper an caught a huge spanish Mac, and the fool on i Fish used a sidchrome double ended ring spanner to catch a schnapper.
and we spend $$$$$ on lures etc LOL LOL

Italians have great recipes. Used to use octopus caught as bycatch for bait until met a bloke at a party in our street who had cooked it using old family recipe. It was amazing. Slow cooked, and his grandfather tenderised it by beating it on the wharf 52 times. Not 51 or 53.

Once for every week of the year,Ive seen some food shows from Greece where you see
the women throwing the octopus against the rocks,.KIWI fruit tenderizers them too.
I was told you can only cook octopus two ways , very fast or very slow.
You'd get some awesome fish from Victor Habour eh, do you head off shore often

Ibbo
1st July 2015, 09:48 AM
Interestingly, the guy in question now puts his occy in a heavy plastic bag and throws it in the cement mixer to tenderise it. Fishing in Victor ok if you know where to go but suffers from being too close to Adelaide and its population of anglers. Dont get out as much as i would like to if i had more time

Spot on Mick You see a few like that once landed,
Having worked on a shark boat killing and cleaning over 1000 a night,
I can honestly say I've never seen one either, we had small baseball bats made
from Aluminium, and whacked the buggers on the nose.
Those red emperor we caught on the Oil Rig using a 8' x 8' cage.
Once the drill bit was stuck so they had to blow it. You could see spangled red emporer
for as far as the eye can see , boy what a sight that was.
Nice pics Avvo man looks like you enjoyed yourself. Thanks

THIS WEEKS REPORT 11/9/2105:

With temps of 21,26 & 28 for the next 3 days fishing conditions will be ideal and with all major river levels steady,I would expect that anglers will be making the most of the perfect weather.

-Mick from the Boundary Bend store reports that yellas up to 4lb are being caught in the Murray on shrimp.
-A customer was fishing the Little Murray here in town during the week and picked up 4 yellas to 41cm using worms.
-Reports from the Wakool River in the Stoney Crossing and Kyalite areas of several legal yellas up to 49cm are being caught on small yabbies and scrubworms, and a couple were landed on spinnerbaits at Kyalite.
-A local angler was fishing the Loddon River at Kerang during the week and landed 6 yellas in two hours up to 5lb,fishing with worms from the bank.
-The Murray here at Swan Hill has seen legal yellas landed at Caeli Lane, near the bridge and in the Runciman Rd. area on small yabbies, shrimp and scrubbies.

# Make the most of the good weather and get out on the rivers this weekend and with the warmer temps. the lakes might be worth a try also.
## This weeks photos are from previous posts with the yellas caught on codzilla lures and the redfin came from Lake Charm in March this year all caught on 50mm lures.

Until Next Week Happy Fishing-JC.

THIS WEEKS REPORT 18/9/2015:

Another fine weekend coming up for getting out on our rivers and getting amongst them. The Murray is dropping at the moment but that will be temporary with an environmental flow due in a couple of weeks, where the river will rise up over a metre and these flows will also have affect on the Edward and Wakool, with them rising too.

-Reports from the Murrumbidgee river at Balranald is that the yellas are still on the bite, with some up to 4lb taking small yabbies.
-Campers at the Riverside caravan park picked up some nice size yellas out of the Little Murray using yabbies and scrubbies.
-A couple of old mates fishing in the Wakool river at Kyalite during the week, landed several legal yellas with two around the 5lb mark.
-The Edward river on the reserves at Kyalite is also producing some nice legal yellas on shrimp and worms.
-Fishing around Boundary Bend and at Invincible Bend has been productive in the past week, with several yellas taking small yabbies,shrimp/worm cocktails and a couple were landed on small lures on the cast.
-Locally the Murray is dropping,is reasonable clear and is producing yellas around the Murray Downs area, at the Nyah forest and in the Piambie area, taking small yabbies and scrubworms.
-Still no reports from the lakes but as the weather warms up,I would expect them to start firing up for reddies and yellas.

# Don't forget the chance to win two entries to this years Mulwala Cod Classic by spending $50 or more in my shop or online to go into the draw, between now and the end of November-entries are valued at $200.

## This weeks photos are a nice bunch of reddies previously caught on Koolabung Blades and a good size yella caught in the Wakool river at Kyalite and another caught on a soft plastic.

Watching iFISH over the weekend and noticed they used a Drone to drop the bait out past the breakers in the surf.
This particular Drone could lift 1kg, expensive if it gets hit with a gust of wind ha ha .
perfect on the murray if you want to drop a bait on a snag but unable to cast to acheive the same thing

THIS WEEKS REPORT 9/10/2015:

Well I think the hot weather is here to stay, which has increased the water temps. which in turn has brought the fish on the bite in all our rivers. The Murray,Wakool and Edward rivers are all experiencing rises, with environmental flows going though them, the Murray is expected to rise by well over a metre in the coming weeks.

-The Wakool River in the Kyalite area is still producing good numbers of yellas on scrubworms and shrimp, with one report coming in of a camp on a sand bar landing 18 yellas and 5 cod(the biggest cod was 80cm-all cod were released)over 4 days last week.
-Mark from the Boundary Bend store reports that the yellas are still on the bite in that area on small yabbies and worms and a few have been caught on trolled small hard bodied lures.
-The junction of the Murray and Wakool rivers at Kenley produced a couple of yellas to around 50cm and a 50cm cod(released) with an half an hour last sat on shrimp.
-The Murray in the Murrabit area fished very well last weekend on the rise, with many anglers bagging out on yellas up to 52cm on yabbies and scrubworms.
-Had some people in the shop yesterday who had spent the week at Fort Courage and they said that good numbers of yellas, many around the 51cm mark, had been caught on shrimp, yabbies and worms.
-The only report from the lakes was that some yellas had been caught in Kangaroo Lake on bait last weekend-but with the water temperatures warming, one would expect that the yellas and reddies "should" come on the bite in all our lakes in coming weeks.

# Don't forget if you spend $50 or more in my shop, you go into a draw for 2 free entries into this years Mulwala Cod Classic valued at $200-will be drawn mid November.

## This weeks photos is one "Big" yella at 61.5cm caught in Copeland Dam recently and a photo from Mch this year of a heap of redfin caught in Lake Charm on 50mm lures-hopefully we will see them again this season.

I have always wondered how long you can keep fish, can you eat them and let us know if you get sick. ;)

If they were were vac-sealed they should be alright.

You'll know it's no good by smelling it.
It'll pong as soon as you open the bag.
Personally I wouldn't.

Let me know if it's any good.
Also just careful how you tie your knots if it's a very smooth braid as I've noticed on two of my reels I have a very smooth braid and tends to need either more turns/knots and/or I've been trying the FG knot, by far the most superior of all knots. For braid, especially smooth braid.

Ahh right, I didn't know there was a bag limit for squid. Last time I caught squid was 20 years ago and then they were only off-catch in trawler nets up in the gulf!

I normally use either black or dark green, this time I went rainbow.
Only trouble if anything is its not very UV freindly, but for the price
worth changing every season. never had an issue with knots so far.

Not quite the case. The Red Gums in the pass got flooded about every 10 years. Now it's every year so the ground stays moist. As red gums are shallow rooted this creates the problem of the old large habitat trees to fall over easily. sParks Vic doing more damage than good. The reason they flood it every year is to get environmental flows though the Barmah Choke which is not natural yearly flow.
