It was, the poor little buggers were struggling across the beach in the mid day sun. Their shells were hot to touch. You could almost see the relief in their faces to be gently placed in the ocean!

October/November onwards is prime time for pinkies and snapper.
Squid are starting to spawn.
So there will be plenty of food around.
Have heard reports of 2-4 kg pinkies around Beaumaris, Black Rock, Mordialloc between the 16-18 metre mark.

We got caught out last year weather report was 5-10 knots going 15- 20 .about lunch time saw some sus looking clouds building to the west , made the call to call it quits .already had around 100kg of snapper , Got back through the bar . Ready to make the run across the bay , in it came , the weather bureau recorded winds of 130 kph and seas of 2.5 m in the bay , we were in a 7.5 m plate boat and were getting blown sideways off the top of waves . A trip across the bay normally takes about 45 min took nearly 3 hours . It was just a big wind bullet . There were quite a few boats in trouble as it came with no warning

Change of conditions

A large part of Barmah National Park and adjoining Murray River Park West are closed due to flooding. The areas have been closed to protect public safety and tracks from vehicle damage. Visitors can still explore the park by boat or canoe but need to ensure they have a good map and GPS as the environment can appear different whilst surrounded by water. Visitor destinations that are closed include: Barmah Lakes camping ground and day visitor area, Barmah Island to the north of Barmah Creek, The Gulf boat ramp, Tongalong Beach, Snake Bend, Browns Camp and The Steps. Visitor access gateways that are closed include: Barmah Island; Barmah Creek Road, Corrys Road and River Road, Sand Ridge Track (just past the Dharnya Centre), Trickeys gate, Gowers gate, Eddys gate, Murrays Mill gate, Hughes gate, Thorpes gate, Darlows gate, Tipperary gate, Mannions gate, Suttons gate and Pinnucks Bridge. at Barmah National Park

All fish shrink when put on ice so that just legal fish you caught 2 hrs ago will nessure under if checked
The crab measures on the msrket are only a guide fisheries use calapers to check most of the comerierally avaible measure under

I've had similar happen ( apart from sinking the boat) to me, where a rogue wave that no one had eyes on, hit the boat, knock the skipper off balance into his dad, who then fell on to the throttle, thrusting the boat forward and the skipper knocked overboard, all in about 2 seconds.

Things aren't too bad out of Noosa, not really on fire though. We trolled around for a few hours on Sunday without a touch, no birds working and all very quiet on the radio. We found one boil up, tossed gold slugs into it and pulled out a couple of spotted mackerel, biggest went about 5kg. Trolled around the spot after they dived and got a couple of smallish spaniards. 10 minutes of madness produced the only fish we got for the morning.

The charter boys have been a bit hit and miss as well, some decent snapper and even a marlin while bottom bouncing, but again not getting as much action as they'd like to see.

The river is starting to become more consistent, I've been getting some decent flatties over the last few days on plastics and there have been some decent Jacks landed lately too, unfortunately not by me.

With Christmas fast approaching though the river mouth area will be a no go zone after about 8am, way too many clueless people in the water now. Swimmers in the middle of the very narrow channels, kayaks, rowers and once a year boaters are already creating mayhem on the water. Will have to go up river and see if the fish are on the chew up there yet.

So basically just used it to tow the donut around for the kids.
Did manage one 59cm cod.
And a far few carp.
Try bank fishing a few new spots with no luck. Had a few windy days.

It would be a good tool for handling flathead. I'm sick of being spiked.
Much easier to clean the slime then from a towel or rag.
Would I buy one, probably not.
Would I use it if I had it, probably yes.
