Glad you checked up on that as i read that it was banned upstream from Tocumwal.

Hope you have a good trip.

The new regulatory arrangements include:
Prohibiting the take of Murray crayfish in all NSW waters except in the Murrumbidgee River between the Hume Highway road bridge at Gundagai and Berembed Weir, near Ganmain, and in the Murray River between 130 metres downstream of the Hume Weir, near Albury and the Newell Highway road bridge at Tocumwal.
Changing the opening of the fishing season from 1 May to 1 June to protect pre- spawning females.
Increasing the minimum size limit (from the rear of the eye socket to the centre rear of the carapace) from Murray crayfish from 9 cm to 10 cm and introducing a maximum size limit of 12 cm, to ensure all females reach sexual maturity and that very large crayfish can continue within the population.
Reducing the daily bag limit for Murray crayfish from 5 to 2 and the possession limit from 10 to 4.

The taking of crayfish is banned now in all waters other than the two areas you mentioned.
I too was confused with the wording so I rang the NSW.DPI to find out exactly what it says and they confirmed that on the Murray cray fishing is only between Hume weir and Newell hwy Tocumwal.

This is what I found.

Cannot be taken in any waters at any time other than between June and August (inclusive) in the following specified waters
(a) Murrumbidgee River between the Hume Highway road bridge, Gundagai and 100m upstream of the weir face at Berembed Weir near Ganmain
(b) Murray River from 130 below Hume Weir near Albury to the Newell Highway road bridge at Tocumwal

Went to Bearii for the weekend and had a great time.
We got two keeper cod on the first night only.
One 63cm and one 68cm put them in the keeper net over night as we got them after midnight and it was f.....ing cold.
Went to the keeper net (which my mate bought brand new just for this trip) the next morning to take photos, lift the net out of the water and no cod. But a great big hole had been torn in the net. Very upset.
Got 9-10 carp, one big one, rest pretty small.
We came on river track where the old rickety bridge is and maybe a kilometre in turned right on a track with a big stump, which took us to the camp spot.
Very nice spot they selected.
Deep water straight off the bank.
Step in the water and its 1.5-2metres deep.
We caught 4 Crays on the rods, which we let go.
So much timber we went through, literally a trailer load every day.
Couldn't get any reception whatsoever.
Sorry boys no pics.

Once your there, a little further left you'll see a little bay with a small mangrove in the water at the edge.
This little bay is a little deeper, just walk up to the tree is see where the water drops off, I've had success on flatties using a soft plastic shrimp imitation.
The lure is made by Zerek Innovations, probably the one lure pattern I've had good success with using soft plastics.
This is what the packaging looks like.

LOL I was just thinking what an "average" looking girl your sis in law is until I read the disclaimer :)

Going through my gear tonight I realise that I'm going to need a couple of new outfits, as most of the stuff I have is either deep sea bottom bouncing, game fishing or heavyish Barra gear (20 & 50lb baitcasters) with a couple of very light bream sticks. Will have to venture into Davo's and see what I can find :)

Found the spot, I think, the beach area that eventually ends at the rocks leading to the car park. Dead low tide at 6am so pretty quiet, but it gave me a chance to check out the holes and ledges that should be firing with a bit more water over them.

Beautiful morning, wind is up now so might check it out this arvo if the wind settles down a bit.

I agree, they are a very sweet tasting fish, but flatties are her favourite so I'll just keep trying.

Was messing about yesterday with the new rig, getting a feel for it and tossing one of those prawn plastics around. Been at it for about an hour without a touch when a couple of blokes (poms) rocked up and proceeded to chuck a silver spinner with a treble on it around. Four casts later he's hooked up and drags the fish into shore, both of them standing there looking perplexed. They called me over and asked what type of fish it was......bloody 50cm flattie! They didn't have cooking facilities so gave the fish to me :)

Any way on to the fishing ended up with about 80 to 90kg snapper , sharks were a handful probably cost 10 or so fish , the fish pretty much chewed all day so a bit sore today , skull dragging from 90m of water to bet the sharks takes it out of ya ,

Bit of an update from Mrs Mego's favourite part of the world.

Spent a few weeks exploring the shoreline fishing spots and spent most of the time at Munna beach, which produced plenty of bream, best of which was 38cm, a couple of tailor, best about 2.5kg, and a few hairtail caught on poppers. A regular fishing partner on the beach picked up golden trevally and a nice mulloway as well as plenty of bream over the weeks.

Picked up a nice little boat a couple of weeks ago, local 2nd hand 4.25 Ally Craft, and have been busy testing out spots and lures with some success. Quite a few flatties coming over the side, even caught a tagged flattie on Saturday, and some horse whiting caught on a popper last week.

The weather at the moment is brilliant so I'll be hitting the water a lot and will post up any significant captures, if any.

Thanks for the update. Just remember that my turn will come where I will be living in a mansion on Noosa river sipping vodka lime soda whilst your paddling your 'row row row your boat down the stream'. Ohhhh and mick will be setting up his gear in a 40 ft luxury liner waving as you loose your paddle in the water.
Anyway, on a more polite note hope you are enjoying life in my town. Send us pics.

So true mego keep it simple , and I mean simple , we use very bssic quality gear , no braid wont even let it on the boat , no flash leader or any sort of leader when offshore . No bottom bashers , and hold the rod . Fish the moon . Leed up is best and just because you dont see fish on the sounder doesn't mean there not there , no run (current) no fun

Sounds the same as in QLD. Depending on the size of the trailer, and it's age, take a stab at its depreciated replacement cost.

For example I just bought a 2 year old 4.25 metre tinny, and put the value of the trailer at $1,000, 10% of the total value of the package. Replacement value would be about $1,500-$2,000 for a new one.

That's the way we've been for the last two months.

As it stands from the parks people.
Change of conditions

The majority of Barmah National Park is closed until further notice due flooding. This includes Barmah Lakes campground and day visitor area, Barmah Island, The Gulf boat ramp, Morgans Mill boat ramp, Ulupna Island, Ulupna Beach, Doctors Bend, Pump Beach, Breen’s Beach and Forest Beach. There is limited access at the western end to the Dharnya Centre education area along the first 500 metres of Sand Ridge Track. Visitors accessing the small area of the park at Rices Bridge (off Moira Lakes road) are able to use the boat ramp to then launch into the Broken Creek and access the Murray River to the north or use commercial boat tour operators. Visitors can also access the small section of Boundary Track heading south from Sand Ridge Track along to Rices Weir to a couple of dispersed camp sites. Visitors can also access some high bank camping at the Ranch (Murray River Park) which is located approximately 2km south of the Barmah township. There is a small section of high bank camping at Carters Beach with limited camp sites available. at Barmah National Park

Barmah Creek bridge 2 on River Road (Barmah Island) in the River Murray Reserve is closed – Access to Barmah Island from either end until point of bridge closure or via Corrys Road. at Barmah National Park
Tuesday 7 May, 2013

I had a look at Suttons track, River Track & Sharps gate at Haynes Rd. All Closed. I went past the caravan park and found a spot on the river that seems to be open. It's about 10Km out of Bearii. There is one spot that is under water, only about 15 to 20 feet long. Only 3 to 4 inches deep with a hard bass. See attached maps.

Bob & ThreeDogs let me know what's happing, if still coming up and when. I have to go to Wallan on wed for the day.
