Fwiw anz is only .com (wife works there). If you follow their directions you'd be directed to the secure server (https). Maybe the link on your phone takes you to a dodgy webpage.

Strange you'd get it if you didn't bank there. It's amazing how many of these are popping up now.

It's a general financial institution agreement that no bank will email or text asking for information.

It isn't connected to Facebook. Anywhere you accidentally posted your email address in the open could be a potential spot where they can pick it up. Compromised lists... I changed the email address where my eBay emails went. A few years later I'm getting fake messages - 'please pay for items now or i will leave negative feedback'

Circular emails are another good one. When you pass it on, don't forget to add people to the bcc field instead of the 'to' field. Delete the previous recipients off the list.

I sometimes read my spam email for the kick. Here are the different email types I get.

Viagra/cheap pharmacy stuff

Online gambling

Hello I am xyz the third, a distant relative of abc rich person (Nigeria scam)

You have not paid for you email item!

Hot stock tips (trading/shares)

I can't sleep tonight if you don't call me - click on the picture (or link)

You are online lotto (insert about 30 digits) winner

Something shocking has happened to your bank account, log in quickly without due care so we can get your password (like original poster if this thread)

Etc etc

Then there's the sms - two different ones in the last month

Facebook: do I really have to add that busty looking female with four friends and no networks?

I'm sure there are heaps more.
