Thinking about buying a SWB 1987 Patrol, with a Ford 5 litre fuel injected V8.

Here it is:

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/walkley-heights/cars/1987-nissan-patrol-4x4/1008586103#

Sounds and looks beautiful, but am not sure all that power is useful. Planning to do some touring, but not competitions or rock climbing.

Any thoughts?

Many thanks

Malcolm

Think feul bill, rego, insurance, is a swb for you (how many people normally travel) On the flip side front and rear lockers, bullbar winch! In my opinion a car with that gear on it would have been used alot offroad so give it a real good looking over before making an offer. Ask about service history etc and the general condition of the car will help tell if it's been looked after or not.

I would give it a miss for that price,

If you plan on doing touring maybe a LWB would be more suitable.

Thanks guys.

It 's a 'reluctant' sale, so maybe that's why it is a high price.

I had a chev v8 in a mwb landcruiser and i found that because all the power was down low i barley used low range and it wasnt to bad on fuel while off road. I do agree with what was mentiond that a good looking over is needed as well as 10k for an mk is pretty high

I bought a 1985 SWB diesel landcruiser in the end. Thanks for all the advice. The V8 was kitted out with two computers and had gone all over Australia many times, but was a bit too sophisticated for me.
