Great site and should have joined earlier! I have a 1997 GQ Patrol (RD28T) that I have had for over a year now. Love it but have been slack and only done a few trips away but planning on a lot more as will have to hook up with a good Perth based club.
2" lift, Tough Dog Adjustables, Drawers and drop slide, Fitted Dual Battery with solar charger, New Pump, injectors all hoses, water pump, Crankshaft and camshaft oil seals, work lights, Avenger Winch, Bar work, 2.5" exhaust. Did most of the mods in the car port so had 6 months off the mods now, think I over did it... whew.
It drives well but a bit vague in the steering at speed (does not instil confidence), so getting around to completing the car now so I can use it. I think its worn ball joints and the steering box being off centre after the lift. So just ordered a Superior Engineering Tie rod and drag link. Much cheaper than only the tie rod from Nissan and heavier duty too. Maybe get the camber bushes fitted too as currently has no camber at all after the lift. Any suggestions whether I will need these?
I also got a Frozen boost intercooler kit from the states that I will fit but think the radiator at the front is a bit small for a Diesel so been looking into fitting a larger radiator. Been hunting for an inlet manifold from a GU with a RD28Ti to ease the fitting process. Caught up with the guys at United Fuel injection and would love to fit a new turbo. Apparently really wakes them up. Thought about doing the whole TD42 change over but Expensive. The RD28 is a sweet revving and quiet motor so would probably like to stick with it.
Cheers for any help.
