G’day Trendsetters!

With the warmer weather upon us once again, please be vigilant whilst swimming in the surf!

Last Wednesday, four young Korean back-packers were saved by three local high school students (also members of the Woolgoolga Surf lifesaving club) at Woolgoolga beach.

Three days later on Saturday two Korean men were caught in a strong rip and unfortunately, one of the men drowned and his body was recovered today.

PLEASE: Have a fantastic summer, be safe and swim only at patrolled beaches and also remember, PLEASE SWIM BETWEEN THE FLAGS!

PS, Has a member of Marine rescue, PLEASE BE SAFE OUT THERE!

Regards,

RLI

Always do mate, its not until you get stuck in the rip before you realise how bloody strong and dangerous it can be.

As a bloke many years ago saw his life flash before his eyes when stuck in a rip(and I thought I was a pretty good swimmer), I cannot stress how important this is. The only reason I'm here is I have a great mate who risked his own life to help me when I was in trouble.

Do not take any waterway(ocean, river, lake, dam etc) for granted, There are underlying rips, currents that can give you a whole world of hurt. It takes no time for someone to get into trouble.

Please play safe in the water this summer.

And a special thanks to RLI for bringing this to peoples attention.

Yeah you dont relise how scary it can be until you get caught...

I grew up in Bondi and went to Bondi primary school and spent so much time at the beach then years later my wife and I moved back to Sydney and I went to Cronulla beach a lot, then one day the weather was so bad all but one beach was closed and my mate and I came the closest I ever have to being taken, it was just terrifying and were lucky we were both strong and fit.

When we crawled from the water the life guards put up the signs to close the beach... every beach up and down the coast was closed!!!
