I took the trim off the barn doors to install some speakers, and found heaps of dust and a bit of black smudging under both trims. Some fool had cut large holes in the protective plastic sheet to fit some stupid cheap speakers which had just about disintegrated. I replaced the protective sheet and speakers; then put it all back together. I'm still getting fumes after heavy acceleration, but I could swear that it's a little better. I hope this info helps someone else.

Can't drive with fumes mate, you'll end up falling off yer perch.

Have you had a look for holes in your exhauset, is your exhaust an aftermarket system, where does it exit? Also check the rubber gromets in your floor as they do come loose after a while.
