Does anyone know what obd11 protocol the CRD ECU runs?

as the title suggests, I'm fitting a 2008 CRD ZD30 to my truck and the wiring is a bitch, but i cant get my scan guage to connect to the ECU to diagnose problems.

I believe all Nissans use consult but different versions and CRD its consult 3 with an ODB2 interface via CAN2 .(controller area network)

All Patrol CrDs are OBD II compliant, there is only one standard for it OBD II (2).

I had trouble at first and found that setting it to auto detect was best and make sure the connector on the back was making contact coz mine was a tad fussy

Mine is configured to canbus (from memory). I can check if need be.

As far as I'm aware they are fair from being OBDII compliant, they use the standard OBDII plug and that is where it ends, Nissan do not use the OBDII protocol like other car manufactures bus as Nisshead has already stated use the Consult I,II,III protocol. Software that is designed to work with the OBDII protocol will not work on our Patrols.

The ADR rules are clear [The ADR 79/01 (Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 79/01 – Emission Control for Light Vehicles 2005) standard is the Australian equivalent of OBD-II.] all vehicles sold in OZ must have OBD II standard compliance implemented. Petrol cars after 2006 and Diesel cars/vans/trucks from 2007. Manufacturers are also allowed to use their own diagnostics implementations so some may have 2 plugs, one OBD II mounted within certain distance of steering wheel (mostly above pedals to the right) and another of their own usually in engine bay (Hyundai for example) or elsewhere inside of the vehicle. Reason is for Emission control. All CrD Patrols are manufactured after 2007 therefore must be compliant
Are you saying that Nissan is in breach of ADR? I can't wait to have go and lodge a compliant against them. Don't confuse the inability of the software one is using to communicate with certain OBD II adapters, it seems like eternal struggle to find one which works.

As Rumcajs mentions the CRD's are fully OBDII compliant.

It'll be something in your scan settings or faulty wiring.

My scan gauge works equally well in any of our family or friends vehicles being Patrol CRD, Magna, Lancer, Suzuki, Hyundai, BMW and Kia.

Maybe try the Scangauge in another vehicle and if it finds the ECU in that then you know it is a dodgy plug or wiring or whatever in the Patrol
