My Dads a retired boatbuilder, and really enjoys seeing these old boats go for a run.

So I will be taking him to the Davistown Festival this Sunday.

Thought I would post it incase there are others who like the way thing used to be done.

A modern built boat using old methods of clinker construction with a William Olds & Sons 6hp Type "H" 4-stroke marine petrol engine.

The engine is 25 years old but like new.

That regatta is an absolute beauty. I was a Rescue Skipper in the RVCP at Gosford when I lived in NSW for my last stint and we used to go over for "justin" and check out the sail past etc.

The craftsmanship is just something you don't see anymore and a heap of boats come from interstate as well.

Like Macca, I highly recommend it to anyone who is the least bit interested in nautical things or the bygone era (s) in general as there is usually a heap of other stuff on display.

Bit too far to travel from Perth for me now tho...

Had a good day with some beautifull craft.

One even had the engine in a glass case!!!!

Had my Bro's name on him

At least 30 wooden boats with most of them the traditional Putt Putt and over 2/3rds of them old hulls, one of the reproductions was a credit the the woodworking and varnishing skills of its owner
