Hey guys really impressed with the troll so I'm upgrading to a GU MY06 which is a petrol 6

I'm wondering if anyone has converted a 5 speed auto to one of the old 4.2 turbo diesels.

Would you not be able to leave the auto box on with the TD42??

I'd be thinking of finding a Blown 3lt GUIV and converting that mate. it will save you a fair bit of coin as the guy selling the blown one is trying to cash out for a Loss and you will sell the nice clean and tidy 4.8 for reasonable Coin.

generally I all for diesel conversions, but I would spend that money on bolting a turbo to it you"see god power gain and a massive efficiency gain

Hey guys yes I could leave the standard auto on the 4.2 but I was thinking a 4.2 with a few thousand buck would pull decent Horse power and then bolted to the 5speed autos in these 4.8l nissans it would really be a great combo

As for the remark about looking for the 3l version yes I have seen this often. Blow 3l with a heap of fruit and selling cheap 10~15k depending condition and options

Reason I ask is I found a really nice 4.8 ST-L with a bunch of options and I was thinking the 4.8 is great on power and just suxs on. Economy.
But I was thinking I have seen a few 4.2L turbo uses rolled and selling motor and gearbox .

So I was thinking a 4.2 worked coupled with the high performance gearbox in the 4.8 petrol version would kick ass

give patrolapart a call I think it is they have put a 3L auto behind a TD42. Your biggest issue is gonna be electrics and getting the box to work correctly behind a mechanical diesel engine with no sensors, computers etc.

PattyWgnOwen converted his ZD30 to a TD42ti and keep the auto box.

He got the wiring harness from Killer Kustom Kables and had no problems getting it all to work.

What about Turbo the 4.8 and convert to Gas ... But then really limited on gas storage in the patrols right ?

Is there any custom gas storage ideas that allow you get more then the usual 90 litres ?

Turbo 4.8 on petrol mate wouldnt bother with gas the price is getting up there for the lpg. There are loads of bits available to turbo a 4.8 and with a mild setup you will get sick power and your efficiency should improve also. These motors can make up to around the 1000hp mark so a conservative setup will see you grinning like a kid a christmas

I often though about this when I had my GQ dual fuel.

A storage tank mounted on the camper trailer would be the way to go.
