Gq patrol 2.8td brake issues

Hello i have recently purchased a 2.8td patrol and i have a hard brake pedal i have read that it could be the brake booster not getting vacuum now i check it is getting vacuum but also i dont have an alternator that has the vacuum pump on it is that normal with some 2.8td or should they all have vacuum pumps on the alternators.

Hey Ryan bit late with the reply, but all 2.8lt ive seen the vacum pump is on the top of the motor.
