Noticed in Ford Maverick manual there is a version/option of tail shaft that has cardinal joint.
Anyone know fitted to SWB, LWB, SWB ht, or UTE ?.
Manual lists it as P N/o 2F80B-D

Cardinal front tailshafts are also in the MQ/MKs
Might be engine/gearbox specific , maybe ???

Yep found it once I put my specs on, lol.
spec chart in rear of section.
Listed -- Front of Ute model only.

Was hoping available for a SWB rear shaft.
To leason shaft uni vibration.
To bad, guess nothings meant to be this easy.
cheers.

FYI
Ok just looked at Gen Nissan MQ/MK manual I still have.
Its the same part numbers as Gen ( GQ ) Ford Maverick manual also.
With exception of MK L28 has a extra shaft between box and transfer case.

Yeah know that, just thought there was an easyer way when I saw pic of it in manual.
Son may be able to install ute ones in the front but I guess bolt holes will be different or something !.

Anyone have an opinion as why its std on the ute only ?.

Check the open and close centres for the tailshafts, even tho theres a cardinal joint in there, its the spacings you want
This info should be in the workshop maunals as well
Some MQ 4 speeds have non cardinal, some have cardinal, but the lengths are the same ....
The L28 LWB tailshafts you mentions are for the remote transfers which is only on the L28 auto LWB

Shaft uni vibration, get the shaft balanced it mite have dropped its weight, and fit new unis they mite be stuffed throwing the balance out

I have only seen them on leaf sprung utes as the chassis are different between the coil and leaf sprung gq utes. I'm not sure why this is though

would think leaf is less likely to need the extra flex in a drive shaft, uuummm.
need to compare setups.

I think its cos in a leaf sprung vehicle the diff won't rotate as much as it goes through its suspension travel due to it being bolted to the springs which would require the extra angles a card an joint allows. Coils and control arms will move through more of a radius only requiring the angle to be changed at one end and the angle will only really be present on that end of the shaft kinda my understanding of it I may be wrong

Thats make sense, I follow your thinking.
the double joint is at transfer end.
doing most of the work due to diff floating up/down not following radius like a control arm set up.
still may look at it for swb front improvement due to angle of 4"lift .
but first things first, plenty else to do. cheers
