It did. It was awesome. The rod is only a light action 'junior' but so much fun. It is the cheapy of my bunch of rods but I like it :)

Although it was a cheapy it is still a Jarvis Walker, so a nice toy.

Nice catch there buddy, the yella looks like a football and reddies have to be the best tasting fresh water fish by far, and it a pest, go figure.

Sent from the secret chambers of our secret society, on a secret iPhone, with a secret pin code and eye retina scanning from a secret peep hole, just don't tell anyone OK, cos it's secret........

Nice.

Tried shallow fried redfin lightly floured, caught and cooked by a mate from Melbourne. Fish might have come from one of the Snowy scheme dams No where near as big as that one. Great chewing!

Yellowbelly looks the goods too. I have only experienced dam caught fish - that carry a fair bit of fat that is very easily removed - are your River fish like that?

Gotta be happy with that, and to think no long ago Sth Australians called yellow belly, golden perch or Callop a rubbish fish cause of the fat in the bigger ones. go figure
Trying my luck on the 12th up the murray can only hope of catching one that size. tight lines

The yellows tend to be more fatty the bigger they get but this one wasn't too bad.

Just had a yarn with a couple of Murry river locales yesterday who are over our way on contract for a week & they're pulling Yellows around the 40cm make using soft shell yabs on a long shank so your in with a shot mate.
