Hey guys I'm having some trouble with my high beam circuit after last night's bash.

After about 5 mins of having the high beams and driving lights on which are wired from the right head lamp high beam circuit I lose the right high beam and driving lights, I've done a voltage test on it when the problem happens and I get 4V DC on the wire so I think it may be a problem with the high beam relay, only thing is I don't know where the high beam relay is because I can't hear it clicking. So does anyone know where the high beam relay sits?

Just fyi, left high beam always works and it doesn't have anything to do with the driving lights circuit.

It would not be just one light if it was the relay??????

Well I'm thinking it might be a loose or burnt wire on the relay outputs because I assume it will be a relay with two switched terminals, also I'm going to wire the drive lights off the supply to the relay instead of off the high beam supply circuit

The GQ does not have relays fitted to the headlamps from the factory.

Does your high beam warning light in the dash still work when the right hand side high beam stops working?

If the high beam warning light stops working at the same time then your problem is more then likely the contacts in the headlight switch.

Haha that explains why I couldn't hear it then, yes I do lose the high beam indicator on the dash Yendor.

So you're saying it may be the switch, when I pull back on the stalk slowly I can make it so the left high beam comes on and if I keep pulling back I get the right high beam to come on occasionally/intermittently. I think the contact must be burnt or the wire to it is. Is the switch an easy thing to replace?

It sounds like the contacts in your switch are the problem.

Yes the switch is easily replace, have a look at this thread it tells you how to do it.

Some people have also been able to pull their old switch apart and clean up the contacts.

Hi, just found this thread, thanks for the indicator/stalk hint... wondering what might be the issue if the high beam indicator in the cluster does come on but no lights work when put into high beam mode now? My low beam and parkers work but then low beam shuts OFF when high beam is on and high beam doesn't work at all.... If there's no relays, would a blown fuse do this? Or maybe a ground issue?

Welcome to the forum. http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/forumdisplay.php?2-Introductions

If you have checked the switch and it is ok, then have a look at the wiring looms. Sometimes they melt at the headlight plug.

I fitted a set of relays for high beam, low beam and the driving lights. there are threads on here dealing with the conversion.

Check the wires in both side . encountered prome with right headlight and found out abroken wire on the other side
