Grew up on led zeppelin, deep purple, black Sabbath, dire straights, etc(dads influence). Then through school Paul Simon, pearl jam, chilli peppers, nirvana, stone temple pilots, pantera, rage against the machine etc. Always love metallica, always have, always will:-).
Now into doof doof like trance(90s) electro house, dubstep and hardcore

You?

I grew up in best time ever when Zepplin, Cocker, hendrix, Sabbath, the Stones and Deep purple were just boy bands, went to Sunbury, attended a few Hells Angels concerts at Broadford.
Slower stuff would be bee gees ,simon and garfunckle, Johnnie cash, like most new stuff except that doof doof crap

Grew up with the disco era hahaha, Angels and all that stuff, Got kicked out of my first unit in Whittington (Geelong) because of George Thourogood.
Times have changed. Moved on to all of the above, Seen a few good bands,Bob Dylan, ZZ Top, Dire Straights, Hush and more.
AC/DC, wolf mother prob' top the list. Spent many years attending Ponde (SAs version of Broadford) run by the Angels (Hells)'and seen some top local and international bands,
Done my time with 3XY and JJJ now into fresh.
Knife party and deadmouse come to mind straight up as current faves. Prodigy, Manson, also get a mention but Metallica is one of the best around.
And yes i still watch Xfactor lol

We had a thread about bands/music yonks ago ... I loved it then, I love it now!!!

Music is my world - I play it on the iPad whilst I sleep ... appreciate everyone's right to their own thing, but can't stand country, anything techno, and just about all of Bob Dylan (sorry .... too many times hearing "doooooo yoooouuuuuuuuu" - sung in his twang of course!!! lol).

Too many bands and songs to mention as I listen a lot to overseas stations to avoid being saturated by the deal we get in Australia - seriously, hundreds and hundreds of quality bands that never get released here let alone played on any station ...

Some personal favourites ... (with specific songs after some of the lesser known bands) ...

Disturbed
Underwhelmed (seriously - YouTube a song called "reachin" and if that style is your thing, you'll be addicted)
Freestate (search "necessary" - awesome)
Live
Dire Straits
Default
Skillet (search "Awake and Alive")
Seether
Alice in Chains
Alter Bridge ("Metalingus" is a personal favourite)
Our Lady Peace (search "Starseed")
Rains (search "Pressure")
Three Days Grace
Stone Temple Pilots

And it goes on, and on, and on, and on ....

About 800 bands and counting - hearing something new that I like is sublime ...

Hitting a Saturday morning, opening the shed to work on something, and cranking the tunes (as all the boys who've been over know) is just pure heaven ... life without music is like a BBQ without meat - meaningless!!! lol

And Dhuck has a playlist of songs that would see anyone true rocking aficionado weeping with glee!!!

Yeah Doors were a cool band, aahh the good old days when these bands were playing in pubs, remember years ago at the sand gropher hotel in perth I saw Sherbert for 20cents cover charge.
Big money back then, on holidays from Tom Price

Even escorted MEAT LOAF from melb airport to his hotel when he came to australia to promote BAT OUT OF HELL.
used to be in motorcycle club but had long hair and bad manners back then. Got free tickets and 2 kegs of beer from memory lol

Alpha, the orb, transmission vamp.......... Oooh yeah Wendy James saw them live she's a fox lol........

Interesting mix of music on here, I'm much the same, my roots are in Aussie Rock such as Chisel, ACDC, The Angels, Hunters and Collectors, Rose Tattoo etc growing up listening to dads music, then I started discovering older bands on my own going through dads old tapes he never played anymore, Dire Straits, Fleetwood Mac, Deep Purple, Bruce Springstien, Sex Pistols, Bob Dylan, Status Quo, Pink Floyd and the single most important artist to me Neil Young, I can't explain what it's like to see this man perform live, more energy than some 16 year old kids in bands.
After that I started getting into my metal/heavy rock/alt rock, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Maiden, Megadeth, Disturbed, Rammstein, Blink 182, Pennywise, Lost Prophets.
Started to listen electronic as I got the keys to the city (turned 18) kind of out of being exposed to the night club scene, found I hate house music and love Electro, Drum and Bass and Dubstep because of the shear energy of the music.
Nowadays I'm into the Aussie prog rock/alt rock music a bit, Karnivool, The Butterfly Effect (saw their last gig ever, bloody phenomenal) and my favourite band is Dead Letter Circus, highly recommend a listen to these guys if you're into the previous couple of bands, been to about 12 of their gigs in the past 3 years so you could say I'm a bit of a fan.

God I love my tunes!!

AB, now I know why this is such a quality forum, Love all music but The Floyd have to be at the top of the hit list, I still have my genuine original EMI boxed set of LP's (LP's aka Records - for those that don't know a record is a large black vinyl disc that is played on a record player/turntable). Including the original Quadraphonic pressings of Atom Heart Mother and Dark Side of the Moon.

I still give them a whirl every now and again just for the feel and listening to the pops, clicks and other noises associated with playing records.

Queen are also another favourite, although I prefer the stuff they did in the 70's, and just to throw another one out there just to p!$$ off the Metallica(who I like as well)fans The 1989 Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Grammy winners Jethro Tull.:clapping:

Love music, love iTunes and Youtube, it's great to be able to dial up songs from years ago and put them on whenever you like. but I do miss bummin through record stores(CD'd just aren't the same), cannot tell you how many albums I bought because I liked the cover artwork.

Mark

Yeah I have an ecleptic mix, I worked in the music industry for years.

Started as busboy at the Esplanade Hotel when I was 16 and by 18 I ran the show, started working a bit on the side as a roady.

I knew everyone in music at the time and got to work with some greats.... for me one of the best was and is Paul Kelly, to me one of Australia's great story tellers.

Worked with BB King, commitments , Wilson Pickett, Boom crash opera, Madonna, U2 , johnny diesel, The sharps (gave me the sh$£s) Hunters and collectors, the Badloves and more that I cant remember in the my intoxicated state.

It was great when I was young but it took it's toll...

Love Pearl Jam,..... anyone remember Tea Party???

Man you are absolutely right that album with symphonic orchestra is amazing. +100500

Also for those, who like the mix from nonmiscible music you should try these - Rammstein with Apocalyptica.

This song without Apocalyptica but with symphony orchestra are very powerful like Vipers V10.

Apocalyptica without Ram is cool thing too.
