G'day.

Did some work on a mates dash in his '90 patrol ute yesterday. He's been having problems with the speedo jumping to 180 intermittently.

Found one sus, and one definitely dry/fatigued joint on the speedo board. The 100uF cap that sits in the middle of the board was loose. Resoldered that and largely fixed the problem but not completely.

Also touched up the coil wires from the gauge where they bind the posts but don't think that was the issue.

Has anyone done a capacitor replacement on this speedo?

Which caps did you change and to what result?

I'll just replace all the electrolytics and ceramics if I have to. Theres a poly there as well but doubt that will be a problem.

Anyone with photos or component list would be great. The truck's 40km away so I could avoid a round trip if I can get a photo from inside a cluster showing component values on the electrolytics.

It's the version with the mechanical odo & trip.

Thanks

Dave
