Well a few weeks ago I went out for a wheel with my dad, and managed to get diffed out in a boghole. After being recovered, I was promptly told that he would not be pulling me out of said hole again.
On Saturday, I want wheeling with my dad and a couple of mates in the same spot and came across this same boghole - only slightly drier. Against my better judgment, I succumbed to the peer pressure of my mates in the car, and attempted said boghole once again. I got stuck:oops:. Dad:smileyvault-cute-bi and said he wasn't pullling me out. So I was recovered by a.... by a..... by a brand new stock standard Ford Ranger :frown: A little futher down the track my engine temp was climbing so I pulled over to find my radiator covered in mud and unable to breathe. after bing towed out by dad to avoid overheating, we found a friendly bloke who let us borrow his hose to remove most the mud, and i drove home.
Anyway, the point of this post.
On the way home it was still a little hot, and i still have mud in places. If I were to hit it with high pressure water would I be likely to damage anything? Or should that remove most the mud?
Cheers!

Yep, It's good fun but expensive...
Take the radiator out and clean it proper or at least take the top fixings off, push it back carefully into the fan so you can get right in there and flush out all the crap.
Once it hardens It's almost like concrete!

Had my share of bog holes, replacing radiators, alternaters, starter motors, Diff centres, But no I wont be going into a bog hole on purpose just to see the splash and get my 4by dirty.
gets plenty dirty without bog holes thanks
And as for Tassis you got more mud than dog doosy, just a muddy way of life there

One day I will grow mature and wise like you, but until then I'm gonna keep doing things the expensive way haha, I've still got a few more years to be young and do silly things

bit of dishwashing liquid into a squirty bottle to act as a wetting agent. give it a good wetting all over affected parts, let it soak a bit, and then hose?
I would not trust my pressure washer not to fold the fins over when using the highest pressure.
Maybe volume and particularly time are part of the answer as well.

Ah yes, I well remember draining the coolant into a bucket, removing the radiator and with my hands over the hose points, washing the core in a dam. While it was out we also removed the altenator and cleaned the brushes so we could get more then the 4volts the gauge was showing. The cause of all this ? My boy getting stuck in the pig pen at Landcruiser Mountain. Was I mad? Hell no, good times with the young fella and it was his car not mine LOL.

I am certanly not shy of mud lol, but I dont seem to have may failures except for wheel bearings ha ha.
I would just take out the raditor and flush with the hose after any good trips and keep my engine bay clean with CT18 truck wash also flushing the alternator.
Always take the radiator out as you just cant get the corners clean in the car.

What can I say - Yes I am a sucker for punishment.
I have only done one clutch threedogs, not from mud, but it was nearly dead when I bought the car. Then my slave cylinder gave up pretty soon after.
So are there any tricks to removing the radiator from the vehicle, of is it just undo all bolts and pull up?
Cheers!

Never done a GU but GQ is very easy, undo both hoses, take the fan shroud off (take bottom half off first), two bolts on the top of the radiator and then pull up and out.
20min out and in not including cleaning.
Cheers

Normally just the 2 hoses, then the 2 bolts at top and lift out the shrouds I have seen have like a cutout in them so you can remove them without taking the shroud off.
