It wont start or even turn over but when I turn the key the hazzaed lights just come on for a few minutes then automaticall turn them self off- but no engine start at all... any ideas?

At a guess, I'd say dirty terminals, or loose.
Possibly a bad earth for some reason, you haven't left any wires off have you?

Check the main fuse near the battery, looks like a thick wire.

It doesn't look like a fuse, it looks like a wire, right near the battery. It's the fusible link.

Do the headlights work?

Do you have an alarm fitted to the vehicle?

Sound like a bad battery connection, with an aftermarket alarm system.

Do you know what the main battery voltage is sitting at?

it sounds like you have an after market alam that you not aware of. Have a look around the drivers kick panel for a switch that doesnt look factory. get a pic of your engine bay up.
I had a mav with an alarm and there was a switch on top of the fuse panel to turn it off.

Hey all thanks so much for your help. Turns out there was a hidden kill switch underneath the dash.. after owning the truck for 11 months had no idea.. thanks again. Dan
