Just wondering if anyone has had any issues with water leaks on their GU. I went through a river that was quite deep recently, and I ended up with a small amount of water under my carpet.
It was a pretty deep river (water into my intercooler etc..), but I wasn't in there very long.. When I got home, i noticed all the carpet was wet. I didn't see any water come in under the doors, but i pulled off the scuff plates, and they don't seem to be sealed too well. Just wondering if anyone has had issues with the sealing ability of these (I haven't had the car long, and this was the first river crossing...).

If you stop or go very slow water can pour in, patrols are not sealed against submersion, water ingress will occour mostly through all the factory drain holes, the main entry points include the sills , these breath up into the cab around the drivers seatbelt retractor area, also up through the door drain holes water will rush in from behind the door trims.

This will happen even if the car was brand new so does not indicate a fault.

Speed and technique is important in water crossings, too much or too less can both cause problems (most people go too fast), i have done many water crossings in my 99 GU wag, some see water over the bonnet, ive never had any noticeable water in the car, i practiced my water crossings skills (and watched others) to get it right.

Never under estimate water crossings, as any thing up to your sills/doors could be your cars last, the golden rule is always "walk" through on foot to check depth (or watch as another car goes through first)
