Dear Forum,

Ok I am a absolute newbie and own (for the first time) a 2008 GR CRD Patrol (it is a Y61 Adventura so I assume it is a GR).

Long story but bough the vehicle in the UK and shipped it to Nairobi for driving around the country. Was enjoying the first 1,000 miles and then boom (bought the patrol with approx 50K miles on it).

Got it to the Nissan shop and seems I need a complete engine overhaul with the 4th piston cracked!

Would the NADS have helped? I understood that for the CRD patrol (which this one is) NADS was not needed. Please take a look at the attached photos and let me know. These were taken as they disassembled my engine to see why it went pop...

thanks
Mark

Mate, seems a bit strange a CRD would go with 3/4th piston issue!

Have you got the year right?
Did Nissan say why it blew?

Anyway, jump into the introduction section and say hello

Nissan here in Nairobi is only good for filling in the order forms for all the parts you need. Why something happened is either beyond them or an explained as an act of god....

Yep, the patrol 2008 CRD - confirmed by the JEVIC when it was exported to Kenya.

Anyways, all suggestions to avoid this happening again would be appreciated.

thanks

Thanks!

Will do,

seen lots of photos on how to install. Any photos of how to install on a CRD? Photos showing how/what to connect from the engine would be appreciated. Also hose size/type would be of great use.

Nissan here has no idea about what I am talking/asking about.

thanks
Mark

Hello and welcome you super hero you,
Don't think you're all alone over there
Nissan haven't got a clue here either

At least do pillar pod with boost and EGT guage
so you can see whats going on

Well, a CRD going pop! I guess that flies in the face of experience thus far? I wonder if it is a sign of things to come as more CRDs get more km on them?

If the idiot that built the ZD30DI had anything to do with the CRD, I'm sure we will be seeing more of this problem.
The EGR system has a lot to answer for in my book!!
Cheers, the ferret.

Thanks threedogs

Any photos/guidance on how to install the EGT/Boost gauge (looking at the following gauge - http://www.glowshiftdirect.com/3in1-Black-Face-Boost-EGT-and-Temp.aspx)?

I am not sure how to install the boost sensor. The EGT is simple, just need to drill a hole in my exhaust (how far from the engine?) and weld a bung on to it.

Thoughts/photos/guidance on the above would be appreciated as there are few mechanics I can turn to for assistance.

Thanks

Hi Flash try the search engine top right hand side, heaps of info on how and where to fit everything, the dawes you'll get from 3barracing in the states, $45 au. could even do EGR block.
Or google Chaz yellowfoot, he is the Guru of all things z30. plenty of pics and info as well. But get your guages first then after mods ,say bigger exhaust you'll be
able to see any difference, IMO best insurance you can have, drive by your guages
