Nissan has revealed the engine that will power its four-car factory Altima attack on the 2013 V8Supercars (V8SC) championship. As expected, it is a modified 5.0-litre version of the VK56DE engine that is found in the new generation Patrol 4WD destined for Australian sale in early 2013.

Makes sense the engine has been around for 4 years now. I still dont know why its taken so long to get to australia but. Toyota also have a 5.6 or 5.7 V8 in a tundra so it will be interesting to see if they ever come to the party.

That's awesome, it'll be interesting to see how they approach a v8 supercar design coming from their usual racing pedigree

I'm a FORD man when it comes to V8 super car racing. can't see how a third party would make it better.
Was getting a bit stale, but its Enduro time, so bring it on.
It would be like the tojo racing in the NASCAR series at the moment.

It's spicing things up a bit, like adding a 3rd person to the bed... could work well or could go terribly wrong!

Apparently there are three new players in the mix of things with Nissan being the first,,,,,,,, Mercedes, Volvo and possibly Audi in coming years.

OOOHHH can see Audi domination coming up, really think it'll work with Volvo and Merc????
Looks like it might die, like sidecar racing. Bathurst was great once, with cars straight out of the showroom,
realise saftey is a big issue, but nothing better than seeing an A9X or XU1 with a GT HO and Charger flogging down Conrod, followed by the Rotary's, AAAHHHH memories

will never forget the footage of Alan Grice negotiating the top of the Mountain when he asked the tv commentators "what's this sound" "an Aussie V8 at 6500rpm, thats what it is" bloody awesome!

The three different makes will all be running the same "approved" chassis. Nissan will be using the Altima which has had massive sales in USA for the last couple of years (although i dont think they've sold that many in AUS?). You can see the Altima pics on the V8 supercar site.
I cant wait for it:) Ill be an awesome first race

Braeside is 1 min away from my place. I might see if I can check it out if they have another open day.
