Water Pump gone tips on changing

My mates 88 GQ tb42 water pump developed a leak a week or so ago
so i'm changing it in the morning any tips to save some time or trouble...

take radiator out its alot easier just 4 bolts and the hoses
check fan blades for cracks and replace if necisary

X2 - and that way you can give the whole thing a flush while you're at it (remove plug on rear passenger side of block, and blow the whole water system through - threads on here detailing how to do it).

I found about a kilo of dirt and bugs down botton and in tween my rad and air con when removed,looked nice and clean from out but looks are deceiving and runs much cooler now
