Whats the deepest speaker that would fit in the front doors?
would a midrange depth of 64mm fit?

Not sure what the max depth is but you could always make a spacer out of mdf or plywood if you needed

I brought 2x spacers in a packet already covered in Super Cheap Autos for under $15 clams & if you position them correctly over the factory speaker wholes, you will get enough clearance from your window winder.

As shown in this Pic of the ones I mounted in mine.

I bought the speakers linked: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002YU4VE/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i01
They need a 6mm spacer, which I cut from ply. The bonus is you can leave the door cover as it is and the speaker covers as well! Too easy.
Looks 100% original from the outside and sounds heaps better.

Not sure what you mean. Hit what?
I've put them into doors with manual windows. Fits perfectly with the 6mm spacer. In a GQ (just realized you didn't say what car you actually have?).

I've got these on a 25mm spacer and they don't come close to fouling on anything.
I actually have changed them since to ones with a grill over them which sticks out another ~40mm and still doesn't come close.

Mine have electric windows and door pockets on the bottom so it's possible.

Doesn't hit the dash. It looks original.
Not sure how deep they are. Amazon says 2.8 inch (7.1cm) and mounting depth of 1.25 inch (3.2cm).
6.5 inch diameter might be a bit much. The original speakers (lying next to me) are 6.5 inch (16.5cm) but there's a big, flat rim with a minimum of 15-20mm for mounting it.

If in doubt, open the door panel and take measure. It only takes a few minutes.
Or buy speakers others have used successfully.

Thanks mate. If I can cover up all the mess I made it looks pretty good. ;)
I'm actually surprised the spacers got that round without a compass. I used a screw, some wire and a pen...
