Hey there, was having a look around on my 88 TD42 GQ and noticed a sensor in the thermostat housing was looking a bit worse for wear. It's the one closest in the pic with the plug. I know the other ones for the temp sensor in the dash, but not sure what to ask for to replace the other one. Does it have something to do with the glowplugs? Thanks

have you got an aftermarket water temp gauge in the car as well? or has there ever been one in the car? how long have you owned it? was it connected to anything? ie. wires to it?

Theres no other gauges in the car. Doubt there ever had been. Have owned it about a year but has had minimal use as was in an accident. The wires for it just ran back into the loom where the temp sensor wires go. I'm pretty sure its a standard sensor as that photo was just one I found on the net and it's the exact same as mine.

My 2006 has one similar, I thought it had to do with the ecu for the timing of the injector pump. Obviously yours wouldn't have this, so I'm leaning towards glow plug timer controller.

As rip n shred said, it should be the temp sensor for the glow control unit in your drivers side kick panel.

It measures the temperature of the coolant and if the coolant is above a certain temperature the glow plugs wont activate.

Cheers guys, was having a closer look and when I moved the loom it completely pulled the two wires out of the plug. I mite be able to solder them back together, it doesn't matter which way round as it's just a resistor right? If I can't solder it would it be alright to drive it for the next couple of days until I can get to a parts shop for a replacement? Thanks
