Hi all,
some people have probably noticed i joined this board with a lot of questions, an here's an other one:
While driving my patrol i've got the feeling it kind of lacks in the power departement. Certainly at low rev's she's a sucker to get moving. I kind of feel the power picking up at about 2100 rpm or thereabouts
Have any of you got an idea what it could be
Oh yes, and it's kind of smokey. When i really push it (and the turbo kicks in) my tailgating fellow road users are suddenly rendered blind.
(The diesel quality on this island is far below par, maybe thats a part of the problem too)

How many k's on the motor? Your injector pump sounds like it could be getting tired.

Might be blow bye try letting the breather pipe run down on to the ground and blocking the intake where it normally enters.

Lol, 2.8. They are slow.
Just want to check you mean slower than a normal 2.8 slow take off?

I've got no reference material, so i don't know of it's slow.
I feel it's more a lack of torque

Block the EGR mate, That'll give it a quicker spool up, also, they need to keep the revs up.
They are a bit slow off the mark.
The smoke, that could be bad fuel, or worn rings, does it burn oil?
Is the air filter clean and what colour smoke??
Cheers, the ferret.

The smoke is black, and according to a co-worker, of a heavy fog like density...
Air filter (and fuel filter) was changed 2 months ago and it has only been running for 3 weeks since than.
EGR blokking plate is being made for me at the moment, so that's going in once it's done

I think it would be worth doing the injectors mate, you have a lot uf un burnt fuel and maybe the injector pump needs looking at.
Poor fuel quality can clog injectors.

Well, it's turned out that the EGR was blocked allready. I'm just removing the butterfly and that's about what i can do now. Just to find a place to get the injectors and pump looked at...

Interesting the butterfly plate hasn't been removed. That would surely rob the engine of power at the ecu's will?

Yes, that's what i thought. Someone with a bit of knowledge blocked the EGR, but didn't know to remove the butterfly.
After removing the butterfly, the engine is a lot less noisy...
I also ordered a new MAF sensor, maybe that helps too. Otherwise i can allways use it as a spare...
