But when ingaged it into lock when I go 4wd it is completely fine..... What could this be?
Thanks all!!

Funky grease. Pull your hub off, give it a petrol bath, dry it out and regrease put it back together

could it be that something needs adjusting or may be worn out also?

I have read about the wrong oil in the transfer case making the front shaft turn enough to make the hubs lock in.

you could always stick a big zip tie around the front shaft and see what happens if it is spinning you'll hear it .

I've also read about the wrong oil bieng put in the transfer case ( by nissan I think ) which turns the shafts and cause noise . I would not think it would cause the hub to lock in so I would do what Stets said, but for both sides and check the wheel bearings while your there . Nothing more annoying than something not working right.

Also if your getting a bad noise with it in your wheel bearings are prop due for replacement.
