Personally I'd put a half rack up there for 2 reason.
A full length one will allow more on top, meaning more weight
plus a full length one already weighs enough
Half rack for a tyre/wheel combo and swags .
Ever tried putting a tyre up on a roof rack on un even ground
Only my opinion

I have an ARB full length. Which is not noisy at all. But my inlaws have a full length rack with a cage mesh floor that rattles noticeably. It's handy to have the full length, but not necessary. Need to work out what u want to carry up top first I think.

I have a full length Alloy rack and its the right size for me. I have a 2.5m awning bolted to the side and carry an Oz Tent RV4 and the full length is Just long enough to accommodate the OZTent between the front and back rails.
Full Length rack with a Roof Bag holding a Spare tyre stripped of a rim, other spares like hoses and belts and some recovery gear.
OzTent down the Drivers side was full length. 60lt os fuel to the mid rear.

From the back of the car you can see the fuel to the middle and the drum on the back was used as a Washing machine. MaxTrax and a Ladder/stool/kitchen bench to the passenger side (Awesome for loading the rack from and very very handy for cooking on)

I have the full length Tigerz11 alloy rack and while the mesh is in the lighter side, it does not make any noise. That said it would be dependant on how close to the windscreen the rack is and how much it can disrupt the airflow over the screen.

I’ve got a powerfull 4x4 full length steel and can’t tell it’s up there even with a high lift and shovel mounted to the sides. don’t let noise effect your decision get the size you need

put a ARB full length on with mesh floor.
it was a little hard to put on with the 2 of us but we did it with no scracthes .Wouldnt like to take it off and on all the time. I looked at some cheaper racks but in the long run i know this rack will last.

Hi. My GU came with a full length ARB. I thought it may be over kill and wondered if something smaller would be better. Recently headed to the flinders and by the time I put a spare tyre and canvas roof bag on I had used up a lot of space on the rack. Glad I have that size now but I still do try and keep the weight down up there. Cheers.
