Yeah had one of those 1.5 seats in the troopy, as soon as I had some $$$$$
I fitted 2 bucket seats.
Have you thought doing the two bucket conversion and centre console like others have done.
or does this set up suit what you do ??

Will the door cards be similar that would look awesomer, [new word] lol

Have thought about it, but that's it. I got 2 x Recaro seats quoted from brand new and was quoted $5,000 for 2 seats. Can't remember if that included going over the pits and a new compliance plate fitted, coz I'm going from a 3 seater to a 2 seater.

My travelling style has changed considerably since my wife has stuffed her back. I drove 800k's on the weekend, and she was on pain killers all the way there and back. She reckons it's all the vibration from my vehicle. Mind you, I was fully loaded and had the back tyres at 46 psi and the front at 42. I had 180lts of fuel and 130 litres of water and the rest of the stuff I carry.

Basically, if we want to go camping, we have to take 2 vehicles. Off road is out of the question for her, so the past 2 years, I've been doing a lot of solo stuff, which is hurting our relationship and fun.

I've got a roof console with storage and apart from that, I don't like stuff unrestrained in the front, so it normally goes in the back.

I fitted my Strato seat for one day and ripped it out.
Then I re fitted it some months later with some conveyor
belting to insulate the seat from the floor made a heap of difference.
Might be worth a go worked for me took out 99% of road vibration
IMO. I can sympathize with your wife not good having a crook back eh.?

Nah, no good at all. Will talk to somebody about insulation.

G`Day Mr Grunt.
Great stuff mate, well done. Just a thought on the seat , you might want to look at an air ride seat as fitted to a lot of trucks.
Fun at first until you get use to them, but vibration free, soft ride, and comfortable. I think you can get them with drop down arm rest s as well.
Find a truckie with one and try it out .
You and truckies , well that might be a problem LMTO.
Good luck mate ,see you in the stick some time.

I think the seat you refer to is called a suspension seat Strato do one for $2500 NOT fitted.
If its workcover or similar you may be able to get one for free,
ET just had one fitted to his Patrol.
I did have a KAB 603 seat fitted but more suited to a back hoe than a 4x4.
Rosscoe your local TJM or ARB may have one in the showroom to try.
But its an expensive seat thats for sure.

Well, on the eve of the first birthday of reintroducing the new and improved, DX grunt ..... in the flesh, I've gone through all the pics, again, and thought to myself.....I love it, and, man, have I spent some coin on it! lol. That's the beauty of being a desk jock and paying for everything. lol

It's got the suspension upgrade, but I'm still scared to take it over the weigh bridge. I've cut down the crap I carry, but added the weight of 90lts of water. lol.

Ross,

When you get a chance, could you take a pic for me of your gearstick (+surrounding area), and the area between the seats. Mine has had a ST centre box thingy put in and i'm trying to work out what it looked like beforehand.

Cheers

This is what my DX looked like before I fitted the ST seats & centre console. The second pic shows the DX style handbrake which is a little different to the centre console version.

72160

72161

The ‘ring’ which holds the base of the gearshift rubber boot on is also slightly different between the two models. The centre console version has an extra hole to mount the console to. Not an issue if you are changing to DX style though.

When I had my seats re-done, the passenger seat was foamed up to become a 'bucket seat' . It's licensed as a 3 seater, but really..... unless the passenger sitting next to the gear seat is small in stature, it's near on impossible to fit 3 burley blokes - like me - into my ute. lol.

Not sure, but I'm guessing so. Lights is his mate, I think. mudrunner

I'm really impressed with my 37" Extreme, so I'm seriously looking into changing my 40" Aurora.

I've PM'd lights and just need to know the total length. I need to know whether my current Aurora bracket will be big enough or too big for the Extreme 40".

Beast mode!!

I have done a fair bit of driving at night the last couple of weeks and the Extreme Light is awesome. I have to say though the 50w HID Lightforce XGT are a bonus down the middle. Really pleased with the total output.

Crazy though that you can get soooo used to the output that it's not enough! More! We want more please! Can I have some more please sir?

Don't worry, as soon as I get time, I'll get some up to date pics, and post them.

One of my young blokes did some more work on it a few days ago and I had some more toys put in, including a 3rd battery and a 12v kettle.

Thanks for the interest.

Take care out there.

I was very humble when I first started camping.
http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/af279/DXgrunt/DX%20grunt/Camp%20set%20up/Holidays022-2.jpg (http://s1015.photobucket.com/user/DXgrunt/media/DX%20grunt/Camp%20set%20up/Holidays022-2.jpg.html)

Beach camping. Solar Panels are now on the roof, and the awning is set up on the left hand side of the pod. The first metre is PVC for showering. Apparently canvas and soap aren’t good friends.
http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/af279/DXgrunt/DX%20grunt/Camp%20set%20up/DSCF2951.jpg (http://s1015.photobucket.com/user/DXgrunt/media/DX%20grunt/Camp%20set%20up/DSCF2951.jpg.html)

A few more glamping luxuries…..in the early days. The double bed, high density foam, fits snugly below the mossie net and fridge.
