We don't know a lot re the different Patrols and have a vehicle in our sights.

It is a 2010 NISSAN PATROL GU 7 MY10 ST with a 4 cylinder Diesel Turbo Intercooled 3.0 L (2953cc) engine.

We plan to do some fairly serious 4x4'ing as our expertise advances and will need it to tow a 5.0m, 1 tonne (unloaded) camper van, on and off road.

We would love to hear any thoughts and recomendations.

The 2010 common Rail Great tow vehicle also try looking at the 06 4.2 turbo diesel that would be pick of the bunch, IMO

My mates 2005 ST 3lt tows an off road caravan 2 ton loaded without much problems except big hill climbs, just slows down a little. But since put a chip in and upgraded intercooler and does it a lot easier now

I have a 2010 ST 3L Auto with bullbar, snorkel, winch, dual batteries and tow a 1500Kg van no issues. How many K's has it done and what mods and price are you looking at ?

Hi Wade & Rose, I bought a one owner 2010 DX CRD, 63K km manual with factory snorkel in March to do the same that you're planning on. Got the DX vice the SL as I didn't need the electric windows, carpet etc. The initial mods were going to be a 2" ARB OME lift, 2.75" Beaudesert exhaust, Steinbauer chip, ASE top mount i/c upgrade, big mouth air scoop, manual boost controller, oil catch can, boost & EGT gauge, then a dyno tune. The plan was to help the 3L perform better when fully loaded & towing camper/boat with the larger exhaust & lower EGT with better cooling & intake via the upgraded ASE i/c & larger scoop. Not suggesting your CRD won't do what you intend without those mods, but something to consider. In the mean time I was put on to an '06 ST-L 4.2 TDi, so I bought it & sold the CRD. You won't need to block the EGT or fit NADS with the CRD. That said, you can block EGT if you really want to, but it can trigger fault codes & can create problems if not done correctly - personally I wouldn't block it.

cheers,

Thanks everyone for your help and advice.

We have gone ahead and purchased a 2009 NISSAN PATROL GU 6 MY08 ST that has very low km and mostly been used as a caravan tow vehicle.

I pick it up when we complete our big move from WA to Qld later this month, can't wait.
