Its not legal on a patrol as it never came from the factory like that. The toyotas did come from factory like this so its legal on them. Talk to some reputable suspension mobs as a well setup leaf and shackle combination will flex incredibly well. The only issue I have seen with gaining extra travel from a leaf sprung patrol is shock mount location the front needs to be a lot higher and it wouldnt hurt in the rear either.

yeah all the places round here just tell me that the front springs will do as they already have and flatten out i need more flex lol

A spring over wont give you more flex.

Lift. Gives you more room for bigger tyres etc. and gets rid of potential hang up points under your diff. Longer shocks will help a great deal but to do this the front mounts need to be raised on the chassis at the front.

so i could bet a bit more flex by putting longer shocks ???? any other tips ???? i was ready to buy a set of anti inversion 2'' shackles from superior engineering but after talking to another couple of ppl they rekn it wouldnt be worth it and do or does anyone know if mk diesel leafs are heavier duty than petrol ones

Diesel springs are more heavier due to the extra weight of the diesel engine , compared to the petrol engine
Longer shocks wont do much in a stock spring car, youll need the springs to suit
More flex, lighter springs, but id first get what you have checked out
If they are old and flat , even replacing with standard height will change it
Im putting heavy duty diesel springs in my new project, like 9 leafs in the front, (you can jump on the bonnet and it hardly moves)but if it doesnt flex real well, ill resort back to the 4 leaf pack
2 " shackles dont give you 2 " lift , not even close, and they are only at the spring front on the front and the spring rear at the rear, more height but not 2 ",better for approach angles stuff like that
Head to pedders they do a full suspension check for minimal bucks, get that done and see what you have and its condition
Lighter springs, more flex but harsher ride, more springs less flex smoother ride
