Hi all, just looking to upgrade the old 2003 Jackaroo (pig at the bowser) for a newish patrol. Been looking on Carsales and seen a 2012 NISSAN PATROL GU 8 ST for about $49k with a tow bar, drive away. Is this right, or am I missing something.

I know the new model comes out later this year, so I'm wondering if their clearing them out. Your opinion would be appreciated,

Hey guys, thank for that, your comments are appreciated.
I see there are a few 2008/09 ST models for the same price, so I'm wondering why.
Have patrols dropped in price over the last 12 months?

Probably selling cheap to get sales up and to clear out stock

I paid $52k brand new in Jan this year. Nissan have always got some sort of deal going on I suggest if you like the patrol BUY it because they will go back up to $62k very soon

49k is a good deal mate so grab it. That's what I paid for mine with no tow pack.

just goes to show you the profit margin.
Negotiating with a dealer can save thousand on just about any new car.
I have been in with a few mates over the years and negotiated prices for them one was a saving of $8500
Just recently mazda three dropped from $26500 to $23500 on a sale and i got it down to $21500 drive away no more to pay.

Best thing to do is get them to evaluate your current vehicle and say you're going to trade in, don't negotiate with the value they give you at all, just accept it. They are more likely to do a better price on the new vehicle knowing they are getting your old vehicle at a low price. Get them to put the price in writing.

When you go back, tell them somebody bought the old vehicle off you or whatever, then get the new vehicle at the best price!

I find it better to sell the old vehicle privately.
As new car dealers don't want it anyway they just flog it off to a wholesaler.
If they offer you a good trade in price it is only using the room they have to move on the new car anyway and it is a commonly used tactic to suck people in to the deal.

That's what I mean, let them think they are getting your vehicle at a cheap price, then don't give it to them.

Yeah but some will offer a good trade in price to close the deal as well wich is only using their huge profit margin to lure you in.

Got ST's drive away in my local rag for $53,980 including $6000 worth of accessories - steel bull bar, warn winch, snorkle, driving lights and tow bar.
Dont know if its 6000 worth but sound like not a bad deal.

ST Utes for drive away for $48,898 with towbar, snorkel and steal bull bar, driving lights and tray.

I paid $48,650 for my brand new GU8 ST Auto with steel bull bar and tow pack, that was unregistered. Drove it to SA on temp permit and registered it here. So $49k drive away is good price.
