Good day all,
I have 2004 y61 4.8l, auto gear, after dead stopping (at traffic light), i hear and feel a big knock when releasing the breaks before pushing gas…. Please advise since I checked engine and gear mounts, could not find any thing.

Hi mate, I have moved your question here as it will not likely 2 get answered in somebody else's thread.
When you get a chance stop past the intro section which can be found in my signature line and tell us a little about yourself and your rig.
Cheers

I would think it's just all the slop in the drive train taking up, happens on my auto but not all the time. Depends on how I stop

Used to do it in my cherokee was trailing arm bushes

sounds like a suspension component, have someone stand near in the drive & replicate the action, that should at least tell yoiu front or rear, good starting point then

wear in the slip joint in the tailshaft? Pump it up with grease and see what happens?
That and squeaky front suspension bushes were reminders that my old MQ wagon needed a grease and oil

Yeah, but if its not that, then you have an over filled slip joint which apparently is a mission to get the excess out.

I found half a do2en pumps was enough to quieten mine, often less than that.
it never occured to me that I had an excess to get out. Some used to escape by itself at the joint. I did wonder whether the tailshaft was gradually filling up with Castrol LMM :-)
Again, only done a few times a year in my case, so would take a long time.
