Hi fellow enthusiasts,

I'm hoping someone on here knows how I can find tdc for each cylinder on my 2.8 gq? I have a manual but it only gives info on how to find Tdc no 1. Any thoughts

Watch the inlet valves as you rotate the engine and you can see roughly where they should be in relation to no1 at tdc otherwise a dial wheel . figure it out that way
i am not sure if a dial indicator would work

What are you wanting to do that you need to find TDC on each cylinder?

U can't watch inlet valve on 2.8. Cam sits on hydraulic lifters. I'm wanting to do vale oil seals but need to make sure its at tdc so valves don't drop down into cylinder. I'm stumped here. I'm not sure what's the best way.

Have heard of people putting a small amount of compressed air in the combustion chamber via the glow or splug hole not sure if you could try this. If you know your firing order then this should be easy. Do number 1 then follow your firing order from there getting the valves on overlap and you should be pretty close. Other than that pull the head.

is it a big job to remove the sump?

You can watch the cam lobes it will be the same thing.
and use a dial wheel as a reference once you remove the cam.

Have an rd28 here with the head removed if you need too know wich pistons are up at the same time.
