as it says i have finally bitten the bullet and bought a patrol. its a 2004 series 4 auto. got her with 186000kms on the clock. pretty stock apart from alloy bar and A/T's. seems pretty clean and thanks to everyone hear on the forums. a massive help when choosing it. cant wait to take it out for its first proper run. already planning what to do and thinking a snorkel first then lights and a uhf. the real spending starts. also i know you all love the pics so will get some up soon.
cheers

Nice looking rig!
Of course, I like the rest, my GQ is great, but the GUs are usually less rusty, being younger and have some other good points.

also another probably silly question but you are the people to ask. when driving and only when im accelerating i can hear a noise almost sounds like air being sucked in. have only owned a car running on petrol previously and never heard this. is it normal? and what could it be?

gee it's neat and tidy. well done. I love the wheels on that model. i wish they still had those on the current models. Not sure what the air sucking noise would be, maybe just the sound of a diesel versus a petrol. someone will have an answer for you for sure.

not sure on diesels but with a pod filter on a turbo petrol i.e skyline sounds like your going to suck in pedestrians so it could have a performance filter and /or the boost wound up. I know simply winding the boost up on my rb20 it sounded like this.

You got a clean engine beexy. I like that catch can. Turbo seems replaced coz it looks still new. That good. Your mugs were painted. Those should be chrome plated. Buy a contact cleaner that leaves no residue for your MAF, its pretty good feeling if you bring one in everyday journey with your GU. Its a powerful mighty engine, just keep that MAF clean.

Just a quick question is it a GUIV? I thought the series 4 was the new shape, not having a go just trying to workout the change over, awesome looking rig though, gotta be stoked with it.

They are a brilliant rig and yours is probably the tidiest I've seen, cheers for the confirmation, I only asked as I have spoken to a few people who have said they have a series 4 but in the old shape.
Cheers

Yep, it's a GUIII. I've got an 04 one of those as well and love it but yours is much tidier than mine. The major difference between the III and the IV is the wheel arches. The IV has solid arches, not the black plastic.
..and yes, the air sound is definitely your turbo telling you it is working.

Great looking rig mate its the same as mine which I picked up in Qld. They are a great vehicle now all you need is to start modifying it to your needs.
That's all the fun but try to come up with a different excuse for the wife every time you have to have that next mod.
Good luck and happy 4wding.

Sorry beexy, i mean the wheel rims. Those are originally alloy chrome plated. But you know, yours look better that way with that ARB bumper and no chrome side mirrors. Wiping all under the hood every 3 days will keep that pretty clean engine. Wow! I like it.
